Join Stef Conner and Leith Hill Timeline Choir for their 2015 Christmas concert: 'Triumph Over Tyranny – Celebrating 800 Years of the Magna Carta', weaving folk and protest songs together with music from the time of the Angevin Kings.

Joined by soloists Susannah Austin and Lisa J Coates, the choir will sing music English music from the 12th and 13th centuries, folk songs telling stories of history’s greatest tyrants, King John and King Herod, and Christmas carols extolling the virtues of peace, benevolence and justice. These will be interspersed with Stef Conner’s new choral arrangements of well-known protest songs that champion humankind’s hard-won freedoms. They will also perform a short excerpt from the 16th century mystery play, The Shearmen and Tailors’ Pageant, which includes the ‘Coventry Carol’.

Music and history fans are also invited to join Stef for a pre-concert workshop at 5:00pm, in which they will be introduced to the music of the troubadours, including ‘Ja Nus Hons Pris’, a song in Old French by King Richard the Lionheart. No previous singing experience is required and all are welcome.
